I've been working for nearly 20 years as a art conservator, and one of the things I specialize in is the conservation of antique celestial and terrestrial globes. Over the years I’ve grown to appreciate the craftsmanship of traditional globe making, designing, printing the papers (called gores), and then, hopefully, fitting it together, onto a precisely made sphere. I starting making my own globes about 4 years ago.

The design of my globes is loosely based on the earliest German and Italian globes. I especially like early European globes from the 16th century (just after the discoveries of Christopher Columbus), when vast parts of North and South America were yet to be discovered. The cartographer was forced to create the “New World” almost completely from his imagination.
